One step into Bistro Jeanty and you’re immediately transported to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, France. This authentic little bistro is very picturesque with French posters and copper pots on the walls. With its intimate white clothed tables and cozy wood bistro chairs, Bistro Jeanty is French to a T.
The food is what sells the restaurant as a true French bistro. The fois gras torchon was smooth and accompanied by a Sauternes jelly that brought out the flavours of the fois beautifully. The steak frites and beef bourguignon were the epitome of all things French; with the steak prepared to a perfect medium rare and enough béarnaise sauce to dip the frites in afterwards, The beef bourguignon coated in a rich red wine sauce was so abundant there was also enough to top the delicate, creamy mashed potatoes. Blanquette de Lapin is a pancetta wrapped rabbit loin with pappardelle pasta and morels with truffle oil. The pancetta was crisp, the rabbit was succulent, and the aroma of the truffle oil permeated the air as soon as it hit the table.
The dessert of chocolate pot de creme was just as you’d expect; silky smooth, creamy, and oh so chocolaty. To top it off, a delicate portion of thick whipped cream lifted the pot de creme to new heights. While you could spend hours getting lost in this Parisian style bistro with its generous portions of rich, decadent foods and wines, you’ll leave Bistro Jeanty wanting to book your next vacation to France.
