Within Minutes from Wine Way Inn

Bale Grist Mill Trail–This hike is rated as moderate and is a delightful, quick loop in Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. It includes an historic mill, cemetery, and interpretive signs to enhance your exploration. Depending on the season, be careful of poison oak that some hikers have observed in the area.
Oat Hill Mine Trail–This hike is rated as difficult and is the longest one on this list at 14 miles round trip. Don’t have that much time to spare? No problem–many hikers report that turning around at mile 4 or so will still provide fantastic views of the valley without the longer time commitment.
Mount Saint Helena Trail–This hike is also rated as difficult, but the sights are worth the effort. This crown jewel of Robert Louis Stevenson State Park provides a beautiful view of the valley as well as wildflowers, rock scrambling, and occasional wildlife sightings. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen as some of this trail is not shaded.
Petrified Forest Walk–This hike is rated as easy and good for all skill levels. It includes signs that showcase the amazing petrified wood found in the area and the owners of this park offer guided tours throughout the day.

30+ Minutes from the Inn

Canyon & Pony Gate Trail Loop–This hike is rated as easy and is located in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. This trail gives you a lot of bang for your hiking buck. It’s short–only 2.1 miles–but includes river views and a waterfall. Definitely worth a stop if you only have a short time.
Alston Park Loop Trail–This is another easy hike as it loops around Alston Park in Napa and provides beautiful views of the city and valley.
Bald Mountain Trail–This hike is rated as moderate and is also located in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. The views are divine, and you’re likely to see wildlife and wildflowers. Bring a hat and sunscreen for this one, as it does not have much shade.
